About this data

The growth rate tells a different story from the level: exports doubled in 2021 (+102%) and grew 57% in 2023, but the rate has decelerated sharply since — 23% in 2024 and about 16% through the first ten months of 2025. The absolute numbers keep climbing; the compounding does not.

Methodology & sources

Last updated: Aug 14, 2026

Methodology

Counts all vehicle exports (passenger and commercial, ICE and electric) as reported by Chinese industry bodies. These are export volumes, not overseas production — vehicles built by Chinese OEMs in third countries do not appear here, which increasingly understates Chinese OEM global presence as local assembly expands. CAVEAT: the 2025 volume is an official industry FORECAST (above 6.8m), not an actual, and the 2025 growth figure covers only the first ten months. Both are labeled in their value_basis. They should not be read as settled outcomes alongside the completed years. Re-verified 2026-08-10.

Comparisons are informative, not definitive. See each source for definitions and limits.
